Self-expression compels me to create artwork with a distinctive style of its own. Being in the moment, focused on the work at hand, is when I feel truest to my nature. I want my colorful compositions to emanate the joy I feel making them.
Paintings
My “Puzzle Pieces” paintings can be viewed as abstract representations of diverse communities living together in harmony. With acrylic paint and artist markers on canvas I create these ‘visual riddles’ using lines, shapes & colors.
Think of the lines as the paths we take in life and the lessons we learn along the way. As our paths intersect we create relationships and communities - represented by one-of-a-kind shapes. The colors signify different lifestyles & cultures.
These puzzles reveal, that if odd pieces are commingled in a creative way, then they can contribute evenly to a bigger-better picture or that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
Drawings
The identities of the models remain a mystery in my “Framed Figures” series. Inspiration for these idealized human forms may be real, imagined or some combination of fantasy and reality. They are drawn with colored pencil & graphite pencil on paper.
In the composites, couples are configured and shown in complementary colors. The relationships of positive and negative shapes are emphasized - angles and curves interplay provocatively.
Indulge in guilt-free voyeurism and enjoy these composites - or individual drawings - in your private vanity or boudoir.
